I’ve had issues using the customiser in WordPress (accessed simply by Appearance > Customise) and realised I wanted to reset it all and instead learn basic CSS to change basic design elements of my site.
However, some of it is useful, like the ability to change link colour without code etc.
But some of the settings don’t seem to work and I was wondering if anyone can explain this inconsistency, and how I ultimately go about changing the point size of my blog post titles at the post level pages, i.e. when you’re actually in each post.
In ‘Appearance > Customise’ in my WordPress dashboard I go to:
General Settings > Typography
Scroll to ‘Header text size’ and then ‘Body link colour’, ‘body text colour’, ‘header text colour’
In each of the following:
Body link colour: changes the colour of all links in body copy of posts at post level pages, and also the right nav menu (About me, categories etc) at the post level pages.
Body text colour: only changes the colour of my name and category names in blog post titles at the post level page – it does not change it at home page or secondary level pages.
Header text colour: changes on blog post titles at the post level page. Also ‘About us’ and ‘Categories’ in the right nav at post level page.
Header text size: size changes on blog post titles on the home page and secondary level pages. Also the right nav menu (About me, categories etc) at the post level pages.
Why is it so inconsistent?
My main bugbear is that I can’t for the life of me figure out how to change the size of my blog post titles from the current tiny point size they’re at, on the post level pages.
Can anyone out there help? I’d prefer to do this without code and just adjust a setting in ‘Appearance > Customise’ for this short-term design tweak, and then I will take the time to learn basic CSS.
