Two different Media Modals

I’ve been fighting WordPress for a couple days now trying to find a way to create a less frustrating and annoying manner to simply add 3 different snippets/markup (HTML) in the content editor.

-Shortcodes (see below [promo] in screenshot) are a complete joke, so I try to create something myself that feels more native WordPress but every angle I try I run into problems/limitations in some way or kind..

Step 1

Click the custom button on the editor bar –> modal pops up –> choose one of the three prefix snippets and kaboom. The (HTML) markup gets dropped into the editor and you only have to change the placeholder content with your own content. In this case two images.

Looking good so far….

Now I activate the image I can’t to alter so I press the inline edit (3) button because and the Media Manager Modal shows up.

???? I can’t do *** here. The “Replace” image button is missing and I can’ get into the ‘real’ Media Manager from this screen.

I know this is probably because my placeholder img doesn’t have an attachment_ID because it’s not in my Library but it got injected by my plugin.

This is the adult Media Manager where I need to be.

Is it possible in some way to create a custom “Replace” button or hijack this button and append it to the other media modal?

I’m looking for a way to to open the default Media Library where all my files are.

I seriously hope this is possible in some way. 🙁 🙂
